Should I buy a valver?

  ?
I currently have a 1.2 mk2ph1. Thinking of selling it any buying a Mk1 as I need to free up some cash, and fancy a change.

Should I buy a valver? Whats the difference in insurance likely to be like?

There will be a fair difference in insurance tbh, best bet would be to just try a few quotes online to get an idea. What age are you?

i wouldnt bother cos they are real money pits. most are abused and/or rusty.
if i was looking at getting a quick car for £1500 id get an almera gti.
150bhp and a bombproof sr20 lump

Not worth going for an RSi imo as theres not much difference in insurance. For 1500-2000 you could get yourseld a very good valver or possibly a hybrid. If I weren't going for a clio I would be looking at a CRX 1.6 Vtec as you could probably get one for that budget but it might not be a great example, same sort of insurance costs as a valver.

buying a mk1 isn't a cheap option I'm afraid. It will likely need work all the time.

How much can your car be worth anyway?

  Looking for a ph-quick...
Buy one! Great cars and if you look after it it will look after you. The previous engine i had was perfect cause i looked after it, and didnt rag it from cold or anything stupid like that. People say there unreliable, i dont think so, depends how you drive it.

Ive found some nice lupo 1.4's for just over 2 grand... I think they would be a bit kinder on the insurance and my friend has one.. for a 1.4 there rapid! Whats you thoughts onthese?

for most it will be too late tho....I really looked after mine and it had only like 42k on the clock when I got it so was great...most these days it's too late....very few would have been looked after and to bo honest the opnly reason most of them will be up for sale is due to so much either gone wrong or about to go wrong...
