Slight crunch in the gearbox

Morning everyone,

I have a slight crunch in the gearbox when I change into 3rd. It only does when I'm booting it a bit, if I shift it in gently at low revs there's nothing. Any ideas? I've seen some second hand gearboxes on ebay but not sure if that's a necessary step at this stage.

Many do it. My old one has done it for the past 40k. I just see it as a trait of the car and take half a second extra on shifts of going flat out.

Haha. Nah the trophy is tight. Jamie fitted a power flex dogbone mount iirc. Shift engages gears very positively.

On a side note. Apologies Steve. I've buggered off from Kent and we never had a chance to shoot some photos.

Mine has crunched if I rush it into 4th for the last 35k. Until it gets worse (or I fit a diff) I will be ignoring it!

Wont make it any worse !! use good quality oil but its normally a sign of worn syncros and baulk rings ! they arent the strongest box !

Change the oil, it definatley helps. Worked on mine when I had the same issue going from 2nd to 3rd.

This stuff is expensive but seemes to have worked
