anyone on here use snoopers? i got one yesterday and i have been past 4 gatsos and it didnt do anything(they are all on the same stretch of road so may not be active?) but i was sat infront of a temp. traffic light today and it was going crazy!!

my question is how reliable are they? and how worried should i be that it isnt picking up the gatsos around my house?

I would have thought those GaTsos arent switched on, its quite common. I know where all my local ones are and I can tell when theyre on or off straightaway. Traffic lights send mine haywire as well.

Automatic doors on shop/garages send them into a frenzy as well. I have sold my s5 now i didnt think it gave me enough warning. The newer one with the GPS looks good though.

Thinking of getting one of those Snooper SR6 or something like that. It has GPS and RLD but is £500. Has anyone see a review of this?

i had the s5 but halfords said it didnt work due 2 sum thing in mine window ,, so they changed it for an s6 for an extra £50,, that maybe the problem??

I have the 815 and it basically sits in the glove box now! It goes off at every set of lights even in city mode. If the gatsos are active then you will get a warning but not very much!

Ive never heard my 815i do ANYTHING on city mode so I am surprised. Ive found mine pretty damn good and its saved my bacon good and proper twice in three years.

Ive NEVER heard a laser alert except for when it does its self-test on power-up. Ive had a ProLaser II (went back to apologise because I had a fake plate on the front LOL) pointed at my car when I was the only car on the road too and nothing happened. Can only assume he was a very good shot! Laser has to enter the unit and they tend to aim for your front number plate so it doesnt pick it up.

Either that or its a duffer LMAO

Towser - Werent you gonna get a GPS one to replace the 815? If you have, what did you get? My mate just got 4pts & £340 for 91 in a 70 limit, so I reckon on shelling out to save myself cash & points in the long run.

Anyone else got GPS type detector experience in a 172?

Yes I was going to but havent sold the 815 yet and still havent decided for sure about GPS one.

The S6-R looks like the business! Bit pricey though (mind you if it saves you twice youre quids in!)

Those cameras where maybe the new ones. They dont use radar so the snooper wouldnt be useless. I think all the new cameras now work by pressure strips in the road.

GPRS is the only way forward I think! I had a Valentine 1 last year and it was bloody brilliant. Very accurate and gave you plenty of warning. Cost about £500 quid though :-(
