i want to make a dvd of when i went dragracing at the mini showdown a few months back but am unsure what i need. i have a dvd recorder that i have used to copy the vt to dvd but i want to put some music over the top of it and edit it a bit. plus i would like to get some freeze frames from the vid too as well as maybe stick on a few photos that i took on the day. ive tryed to use windows movie maker but it doesnt recognise the file. am i going about it the completly wrong way or am i on the right track? any help would be great cheers oh and on the softwere front, i would prefere it if it was a free download as i dont really do much of this sort of thing (as you can proply tell).

Convert the file to something that WMM recognises, that will be your best bet for a first attempt.
