Stunning, lighting is fantastic (you seem to have found more sun than me this summer!), the blur/bokeh on #3 is silky smooth.

Makes me want a fast standard lens!

i need a calibrated monitor as they are fine for me but as we dont have the same monitor set the same way its hard for me to sort :(

i take it you talking about the F40 though ?

  Oil Burner
yeh this is the problem. They just have the most tiny sepia type look to them. Mainly the f40 and the Ferrari behind the ford gt40.

Still great pics.

Still great shots. I got a 50mm f1.8 yesterday, so im going to have to have a play with that today i think.

  A4 Avant
Great shots, I love the lambo door, really good different angle compared to what 99% of people would have decided to take.

They look very sharp even at this reduced res, looks like an impressive lense.

Apart from 7,8 and 10. The rest seem to have a yellow/orange colour cast to them. As you've put above though some of it could be my monitor compared to yours. The Ferrari is the worst I can see it on.

the gt40 i think is mainly white balance will give it another go tonight

but even on my work monitor the F40 looks erm red lol i need to get a colour spider though when i have the cash

i dunno on my monitor im sure its how i remember the car looking

but i dunno now :(

i shall rework the raws tonight if i have time

  FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
Great pics mate, really clear. I may be miles off but is the one before the Gt40 an X-bow?

hmmm, was going to get the 17-85 F3.5-5.6 but after seeing these pics i might be tempted by this, only problem is if i get the 17-55 it leaves me with a gap until i get to my 70-200, so should i just live with the 15mm gap or stick with the 17-85 to be covered?

Well, plus the 17-55 is twice the price.....

I doubt you'd miss 55-70 anywhere near as much as you'd miss f/2.8! 15mm on the wide end is loads but nothing in this case...

in that case it could be an expensive month, with the 10-22 aswell and possibly a 50d lol.

and thinking about it, i am using the kit 18-55 at the moment anyway and never take my other filler lens with me, just the 70-200f4l so you're propbably right, i could do without it.

so should i just live with the 15mm gap

15mm gap is about 5 small footsteps! I wouldn't worry about it, I've never noticed having large gaps in any of my kit, infact I now have a gap of 70mm (between 50 and 120) but I don't forsee any issues.

Given the choice between full coverage between say 15-300mm, or faster lens' with some gaps, I would go with the faster lens option every day of the week.

It depends on whether you are happy to change lenses. I went for the 24-105 and a 12-24 as I dont mind swapping over every now and again. The 24-70 f2.8 is also a great lens but it does weigh a ton!

The 17-55 would be great to have though... a perfect everything lens.

  Cupra
24-105 is s a very odd range on a crop camera

It suits me perfectly though. Most shots i take are over 30mm and as it is mostly used outside the extra length is really handy to have for a walkabout.
There are times when i think the 17-55 would have suited me better but i am happy with my choice.
The 17-55, 24-105 or 24-70 dilemma seems to be one of the most frequently discussed points for Canon users. It always comes down to personal preferance.

Makes me want a full framer, grrr!

well, had an expensive day...............

as i was down souff i dropped into park cameras and spent a bit of money.

After seeing these pics i picked up the 17-55 2.8 and also a 10-22.

Witha couple of filters it was around £1170, just need the 50d now next week................

Just hope the lenses are worth the money, starting to get expensive this slr business.

I think I am finished buying lenses for a while now though, in my collection i now have:

10-22
17-55 IS 2.8
50mm 1.8
70-200 4.0 F

not a bad range.

You on flickr DK?

no, not joined flickr, i put all my pics on photobucket and facebook.

These lenses are for my trip to peru, so the 10-22 is for the landscapes (machu piccu) and the 17-55 is to replace my 350d kit lens.

Blimey. Got a big bag?!
erm, no, thats my first problem, my camera bag now no longer fits the bill, when i go to peru i'm just putting the lenses in my rucksac, won't take the 50mm i don't think, just the other three.

Thats a nice 3 lenses to have, trying to shift some gear and head for something similar if I can let get go of my f/1.8's

Have a look around for backpack/camera bags, maybe find one big enough to hold all the gear in the bottom then day time travel gear can go up top... I'd rather not have my lenses rolling around personally and be able to take them on as hand luggage...

i have a decent rucksac with separate compartments for my laptop and the camera and lens so i'm probably going to take that, just have nothing to properly protect them individually in there as i have no lens cases except the 70-200L which comes with one.

Will just see how it goes i guess, just hoping i don't get one nicked etc while on the trip with a load of people.

Also still debating whether to go for the 50d before i go or take the 350d as its lighter and get the 50d when i get back and at a better price, just don't want all that nice glass to be held back by a cheap camera.

Unless you see ISO 6400/12800 and a higher resolution screen as essential I'd snap up a 40D personally, love mine, the 350D has never felt nice to use since.

Exactly what I did, the 40D is a great camera at a good price. There's always the temptation to get the latest piece of technology but ultimately the upgrades are small incremental steps rather than giant leaps and bounds. I am going to focus (no pun intended!) on building up a good collection of glass.

Incidentally some nice lenses you've picked up there DK.

Cheers

Paul
