sound crackling aftermarket headunit

hi! just fitted an aftermarket headunit to my 172 cup. After it gets up past about quarter volume sounds starts crackling im thinking not enough power getting to headunit or poor earth? has anyone else had this problem? Thanks

The head unit may be higher wattage than standard so speaker will crackle earlier than with standard stereo
