Sound Deadening

im looking at upgrading my speakers and sub further! i'm gonna install 6.5" comps in the doors and upgrade to an active sub in the boot (cheap and space saving too). i want to know about sound deadening. what is it exactly, wot benefits does it give?, how and where do i install it? has anybody got any experience and/or pics of their own set-ups with the stuff??

Worth it, but sometimes exspensive.

is it worth deadening the doors? i was just goon use crazy_clio's method for installing 6.5s but im worried about actual sound quality being compromised by stupid rattles/vibrations in the door or summat else.
