I don't think you need to do much to your 172 Pete. The suspension felt good on the roundabout when I drove it.
I'd retrim or change the steering wheel as it felt a bit slippy, DS2500 brake pads, matched inlets and an ITG or Pipercross air filter if it hasn't got one already.
