Speaker Components?

Afternoon guys,


Looking for some nice speaker components for my 03' plate 1.6 Dynamique.
Got 1200 W JBL sub, and purchasing 1100 W Kenwood amp very soon with a nice old wma/mp3 Alpine head unit [4x45 iirc] which I've had sitting for a while now.
Been rec'd some Alpine Type R + X, but no model inparticular, any pointers please?

Installation is not a problem as I'll get it Professionally done, but what components can I rely on to sound nice with the above system, spending say £100 topps?

Well if I get a 4 channel amp, then I will amp them?

You wouldn't need a 4 channel to run a set of comps unless you will be running active or a sub?

Well its the above setup in original post, so obviously sub goes via amp, thus leaving no terminals free on a 2 chn amp, and 2 free on a 4 chn amp as I understand it?

From a 4-channel you'd run the comps off 2 channels and the other 2 would be for a pair of rear speakers or bridged to run a sub.

Depending on the RMS of your sub and what a 4-channel bridged would put out to it, you may want to have a seperate mono amp for the sub and just a 2-channel for the comps.

Id go with the infinity kappa's, i have the reference range which is the entry level infinity do in the front and rear of my car and man they sound good. Surely the kappa's can only be better!

i have the kappas and have recomended the to pete (pablo) on another forum, you get very good speakers for your money especially if you buy them from an ebay trader

Ok, so guys, which Amp to go with that lot?
Did have the Kenwood KENWOOD KAC 8152D 1100watt in mind, will this power my 12" JBL GT1202 1200 watt peak Sub, with the infinity components well?
Wiring kit etc already in place... Just waiting to order the amp + speakers and book in the install ...
And how good will that setup/system be, any alternate recc's?

these usually retail for around £100 so a pretty big saving got myself 2 sets

Haven't heard the kappa my self but i have heard they can be harsh. I would say go for genesis or rainbow

the kappas arent harsh as such, but yhe crossover gives to options...normal trable or +3db treble. when on +3dc the tweeters are a bit "bright" to be honest, can be a little overpowering

Rainbow crossovers have 0db, -2db, -4db and -8db options indside which is nice. At least my SLC230's do anyway.
