Can anyone tell me whether it's hard to fit a carbon splitter to a ph 172? Mine should arrive tomorrow and I'm probably going to fit it tomorrow night. So are there any tips? Do I need to take the bumper off?
How far is your front bumper off the floor? Mines onlu been lowered 25mm from standard, but I bet it's fiddly trying to fit it without a ramp or jacking the front end up
I've got no hope then I will take it to the garage in that case cos I will end up getting stressed and chucking the splitter at my car or something!! Have they said how much it will cost to fit it? I assume it's only a 5 minute job for a mechanic
Easy enough, just jack it up, and put on axle stands, wouldn't bother trying without.
Just be careful when you are drilling the Carbon splitter as they're pretty brittle.
Did mine alone, but if you get someone to hold it in place while your marking up and messing about would make life loads easier.
Where abouts is Yozza Sport based? Dunno if it's worth a massive trek, but then again I want it doing properly. I've got a feeling if a local garage does it, they might end up breaking it or something

Rang a garage near me to ask if they could fit it and he didn't know what a splitter was. He sounded a bit retarded to be honest. Will it take ages to remove the bumper? and is it hard? Is it just a case of unscrewing a few allen head bolts and pulling it off?
As someone said above just park it over a curb and then you can get to it easily.
I just lay underneath with a drill and just drill a few holes. I then just changed the head of the drill and put the screws in. I'd say a 15-30min job.
If you want it to be more secure you could try putting a length of wood or whatever to ease the pressure on one particular point if there splitter was to be hit by something.
Think I'm going to use a jack to jack it up and screw it on one side at a time (as I only have access to one jack). Do you reckon a jack will give enough clearance?
Yeah I will be careful. Do the carbon ones come with pre-drilled holes? Then I just need to mark the holes on the bumper, drill the holes on the bumper the screw the splitter on?
I'm trying to refit my standard splitter after a little bit decided to break off! what a pain in the a$$! i tried a pair of ramps thinking no probs as my Mrs's Ka went up no probs but the bumper is way too low on mine.
Got mine put on at the garage this morning. Took us about 20 minutes. It was a lot easier than doing it myself, they put in different bolts as well so it will never fall off!
