sports cats are for people who are slightly unsure about certains things in life ;)

decats on the other hand are for men!

a sports cat could also be for someone who does a proper mans job for a living so cant be arsed to keep changing back for mot's

Is it worth buying a de-cat pipe or getting an exaust company ie powerflo etc to make one for you?

"decat" as people like to call it, is all very well, but with more and more around I suspect this will be a future target by police. I would get a sports cat if I could, but some Clios seem to have their cats attatched to the manifold so would need manifold modifitcation to change the cat.

I wouldn't get a cat bypass pipe if I were you, but many people do, and haven't had problems with MOT or police. Just be aware is my comment, many people (friends and aquaintences of mine) have been pulled over by the police for a side of the road MOT, you will fail that without a CAT. If you think a new MOT is all it will cost you think again, you're not allowed to drive the vehicle away so you have to PAY for the car to be towed by the police (they'll make it cost about £150) and then arrange for it to be fixed and MOTed again.

I know out of everyone on Cliosport this may happen to a few, but if you play the lottery then you most certainly believe in odds of things happening that might not;)

BTW ^^That's the only reason I'm not running my car on red diesel as I have a ready supply to tankers of the stuff at work.

With a decat, would your insurance be invalid if you were in an accident as its not strickly road legal as it wont pass an emissions test?

Technically speaking yes.

But often in none-fatal crashes you would drive your car away with insurance details of everyone else, and simply do it over the phone. Though I suspect they do send people out to check the car, that is where you would put it back to what you claimed.

However if anyone calls the police, yes, they will check the cars and you'll be in the s**t.

Im getting a prospeed exhaust with a sports cat tomorrow off someone on here so hopefully ill be alright. Are sports cats alot more restrictive than decats?

No, I haven't brushed up on my cat air flow books for a while, but a sports cat is far from restrictive. The decat is going to get similar gains, perhaps a slight increase, but nothing worth upgrading.

i friend of mine wrote off his 04 STI impreza, he had a decat stainless system on that, because the vechicle was trucked to an insurance approved yard, the guy there took one look at the underside of car and said your f--ked man.He could nt even fit the cats back on the vechicle before it was trucked away from the scene, there was to much damage to the exhaust system.the insurance guy said it was an illegal vechicle on the road, he still has not seen any of the 17 grand he paid for the vechicle 8 months after the accident

People on here don't seem to realise that though. Unfortunately statistics will get the better of a few people on here I think.
