spring compressors

Do I need to use spring compressors when converting to coilovers? I wasnt sure if when I took the shock out, if the springs would need to come off when removing the top mount.

that guide should give you a good idea - that is for changing springs - obviously once you have got the whole shock/spring unit out you can start fitting the coilovers

Thanks for the link. Going by that, I will need to use spring clamps to remove my top mounts to use them on my new coilovers?

Now im confused :S

YOU DO NOT NEED SPRING COMPRESSORS ON ANY 172 OR 182 - FACT

yup 172/182 no compressors required. Other models however I would suggest unless you want a spring embedded in your face buy a set and use them when swapping springs.
