Squeel at high speed.

  Monaco Blue 172 (56/468)
Took my 1 week old 182 on its first motorway run today. Was very impressed until one of the most annoying sounds ever which I can only describe as a squeel started once the car was cruising in 5th. The squeel was coming from around the front windscreen. My mate says its could just be the wind against a lip on the bonnet or the windsreen. Just wanted to know has anyone had the same problem, its annoying the hell out of me:mad: .

Yeah I've heard others with this problem. IIRC, it's the weatherstrip around the top of the windscreen, which protrudes slightly, making a whistling sound. You could get a windscreen place to re-seal it for you, or have a go yourself?

just done 1700miles in two weeks in mine mainly on motorways, mine makes a howling noise at about 90 ish mph, very annoying, turned up the radio to get rid of it, dissapeard over 110mph on the autobahns.:approve:

I have same problem/sound. Just glad to hear its nothing major. I have a crack in the windscreen so i need to get that changed, hopefully this sound will go.

I have exactly the same, Mine is VERY LOUD. It is a high pitch squeal coming form the plastic above the rear view mirror. If i push it in with my left hand it stops, but it comes back immediately when i let go. THis happens at about 95 - 100 +

Not something you ideally want to do at those speeds!

Cuold this be something that does not happen on the 182Cup? I ask because the Cup doesnt have all the gubbins behind the mirror

Exactly the same problem as me. I had the windscreen re-sealed. Problem solved - unless i now go 130 or more MPH, however, thats not really now a problem for me to get seriously checked out!!

Just had another search on the forum, numerous solutions.

1) Hole under on of the wing mirrors can make a whistling
2) Badly sealed front windscreen
3) Climate control thermostat fan

Im guna check these out 2m

A lot of people seem to have had the same problem. Guna try and fix it myself before taking it to ren dealers.

I have it in my 172 but it's cos the wipers have a hole in them for mounting that isn't used, so the wind whistles thru it.
