steering rack help please?!?!?!?

i have an 02 plate 172 mk2 ph2 and the steering rack has broken on it has any1else experienced this problem with the clio? is the steering rack the same on all mk2 ph2 clios? as there is alot of these next to me in a scrap yard just wondered wether they would fit. cheers

All 172/182 have hydrolic racks

The none RS have the none hydrolic racks (ok there some specilas but there rare) But anyway he none RS racks arn't the same anyway.

i had a look on mastercat at work and went to a driveshaft and steering rack place and they said that the 1.4 1.6 and the 2.0 between 2000-2005 are all the same hydro racks and the dci has an electric 1. so i have located 1 at my local scrappy for 47 quid.

Be preparied for a shock there only a few none RS cars with the hydrolic rack (litrall 99.9999% use the electric rack) and the hydrolic rack is a different part (doens't mean it won't fit mind)

you will need 172 track rod ends. as the 1.2 etc racks are 12mm short on each end

also theres a 172 one on ebay for £50
