Steering shaking like a b****

  Clio MK2
Hey all,

Out driving yesterday night, when the council decided that they where going to dig up yet another road.

I think they are trying to resurface it but only a section. Anyway when the resurface they "cut" part of the road away meaning that there is about a 2inc drop from the road to the floor and back up again.

I was going about 40mph and didn’t know this was there and as you can imagine bang, bang! Wheels hit both the drop and the 2inc "curb" when the road started again. (BTW they didnt have any signs up either).

Now when I’m driving the steering wheel shakes like a b****, I’m guna test fit 2 new front wheels tomm see what happens,

any ideas when might be the problem fellas?

Probably buckled the wheels. I would get out there and take photos asap if they are still doing the same so that you have some evidence to show the council as you can try and claim back the cost of the new wheels/fixing the old wheels and take a ruler with you to put next to the "curb" so that there is som evidence of hot big it was. Try with new wheels just to be sure but I think that it will almost certainly be buckled wheel(s).

loss of wheel balancing weights???

lol, or that. That would be a lot better as it would mean that it wouldn't be so costly. If it's buckled it would be pretty clear I would think if you were to remove the wheel so if it's not buckled then the balancing is probably out.

I have just had this with my own car. I was worried that my discs were warped/cv joint fucked but after fitting my new alloys the vibration has gone so it was just that the wheels weren't balanced.
