Do you get sarcy comments from neighbours wondering why you have two red clios?
its actually not bad the boy across the road is into Mini's and has a JCW, a convertible Cooper S and a few others. The boy next door is into Lotus Cortinas and has a load of mk1 Escorts and his sun a Honda nut, the boy at the end of the street has a few old clapped out V8 AMG mercs and theres a boy a few doors down with a Vectra SuperTouring. Handy street when you cant find a tool as between us all we have everything, theres a painter, a welder and an auto spark too haha

Cheers for all the comments on the trophy, its pretty mint, just ticked over 55k, don't get much time to use it these days, was thinking about selling it but decided to park it up in the garage and ill come back to it in a year or 2 and get it perfected!

Both are standard bar the trophy has a 98 ron fastchip map and the 197 an Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust, got a set of Godspeed brakes and 200 cup suspension and steering rack on route for it though!

its a tough call, the 197 is my daily driver and its a hoot, although running costs have been eye watering!, I had a 200 from new so knew the fuel consumption was a bit worse than 172/182, but turns out 72,000 miles later they are bloddy expensive to maintain, ive had it about 6 months now and so far its cost me...
Exhaust manifold flexi failed, good condition low miles 200 manifold £200 - 6 hours of my time to fit!
exhaust centre box failed, excuse for an akrapovic which of course was a bit overkill but only bought due to the failure! £1200
drop link sheared off under braking and nearly killed me! £50
couple of engine mounts started knocking £100 odd
and this month the rubber dust cover on a front damper has failed, destroying the damper so ive ordered 200 cup dampers and springs for it £350
went in for a service and a check over which highlighted play in an inner tie rod and track rod ends, the quicker 200 cup rack comes with new tie rods so will probably go down that route while I'm at it.

obviously the majority of the above cost is coming from me upgrading rather than just repairing, just because 1 damper failed doesn't mean all 4 need replaced but id rather refresh the lot while I'm at it. This has obviously put a downer on the ownership experience but hoping it should now be sorted for the summer! but to be honest the 197 is a step up in every area, other than straight line speed I recon the trophy would edge it, it definitely feels faster in a straight line, the 197 could be doing with 15-20lb/ft more in the mid range, or 300kg less lol

the trophy does very little miles although when its out, its driven properly so it requires minimal maintenance.

if I was doing a sunday drive down some nice roads id take the trophy.
if I was driving anywhere else I would take the 197, including a track day
if I had to sell one and keep one, the trophy would stay all day long!
