Syncing Gmail with Ical?

Im currently using POP3 and apparently there is a better way to do it but

A) i dont know what this better way is called
B) i dont know where to start setting it up?
C) i dont know why its better. does it sync my folders etc or something?

any help will be appreciated

Imail? What's Imail? Do you mean Mail?

In mail add an IMAP account for gmail using the gmail servers.
