Tar Spots

  Broken Diesel Megane :(
washing the car yesterday and noticed on all the lower panels of the car along the side, the tar spots are quite bad.

is claying the best option for this? would of tried it yesterday but got no clay at the minute.

if it is the best option, before i buy anything, which would be best one to get?

cheers

I prefer to dissolve it with a tar removal product rather than shear it off with clay in most cases.

I use AG Tar and Adhesive remover mainly as I have 5 litres of it to use up !

Yeap safe, just need to rewax after.

You can either use it after washing and drying or the way i tend to do it is wash the car, remove the tar spots with the AG while the car is wet, quickly rewash those areas, then rinse and dry.

ok cheers rich, will give that a try this weekend then i think. i take it this can be used on the front too for flies etc?

Not ever used it on flies, as it actually dissolves tar, not sure what it would do on flies!

  LY V6 with Recaros
Think I'll give this a go, mine has quite a few tar spots along the bottom of the panels and I didn't seem to get on very well with the claying!

Claying worked well on mine, although in the past I have put abit of neat car shampoo on the area and then given it a good scrub, may not be good practice but it worked for me!

As said claying does work, but why shear it off and risk scratching/marring the paint ? - when dissolving it is a safer option.

cheers rich, will pop into halfords after work for some. quick one, orange seatbelts are looking a bit grubby, anything to use on them? being orange a bit worried about staining them.

AG Interior Cleaner or AG Super Interior Cleaner for the seat belts, or Megs All Purpose Cleaner.

Try some Ag Interior Cleaner on them first, worth trying it in a hidden area first incase it takes the colour out.

ok cool, got the "Fabric Clean" stuff from carwashnwax, chemical guys. used it on carpets and mats and works a treat, safe to use on seatbelts though?

Not used it myself - Try some of that first, should be fine on them, again just test to ensure it does not take to much colour out.
