Guys and Gals - thought I'd let you know how my 30 month old 172 is giving me grief....
Basically back in November I was driving along quite happily at about 40 when the engine warning light came on (the coil-type light) and I lost revs. Whatever I did I couldn't get it over about 3000rpm in any gear, which was a big problem on the hill I had to climb! Anyway, next day I took it into work and got a diagnostic from our transport garage, who said they couldn't see a problem but if there was, it would be a 100 quid part (didn't say what part). Error came back next day, so took it down to local Renault dealer (who are REALLY bad). They "cleaned the throttle body", if that's possible, and gave it back. All was well until last week, when the error came back. Took it back to dealer (although almost prepared to just pay my work garage to sort it!) and they tried to clean the throttle again. I told them to *^^(* off and not give me the car back until they had sorted it properly.
Anyway, they've had the car a week and have talked to Renault Uk who said the spark plugs needed upgrading, as they weren't the same spec on my car as they are on newer ones. I pick the car up again tommorow.
What chance do I stand that they've fixed it? Anyone else had similar problems?
p.s. Seat belt also broken, and front windows kept winding themselves up until I had ECU replaced. should I just go and buy a Toyota Corolla !!!!!!
