tightening handbrake up

pump brake pedal a few times, make sure the handbrakes off and the rear calipers arent seized on, take off the heat shield over the cat to access the adjuster nut and thighten as needed! easy!!

Remove the heat shield form the under side of the car that covers the centre section of the exhaust. Only 2-4 screws. Then you will see the adjusting thingy. Basically two cables running through a peice of metal. You can adjust the cable by tigtening the respective nut up or down. You will see what i mean when you see it. Do this and your done. Easy Peasy. ;)

thanks!!!

the guy said it was only 1 side though that failed! would this be something nearer the rear brake itself???

Well it might be the actual handbrake cylinder itself if its only on one side. Id take the rear brake off and give it a good clean and re-grease. Ive had to take my front brakes apart before to free a sticky caliper so might be the same type of thing. Its not a hard job at all.

Mate, take your rear brake drums off, inspect the brakes, clean and adjust them up, put them all back together.

You should then find the handbrake travel will be ok.

yeah disks, im gonna strip em and whathaveya!

its prob due to being sat on teh drive for 2 months! although the detour back from the MOT garage was 2 hour long down some niiiiiiiiiiice country lanes! aiiight!

god iv missed driving the valver!

The linkage which splits to the 2 brakes isnt the best and its rare to see a valve brake the same amount on both rears. One is always stronger.
