Ive got one on the Surf and its been great so far, offroading the car and having the alarm submerged in mud doesnt seem to have affected it so far either.
not sure what the pin override is for though...

my mate has a clifford and the car won't start if you don't put a pin number in... could this be what pin override is?

Every cliford alarm ive come across is a right pain in the arse to live with on a day to day basis. Though ive only ever used the ones with the two button pin and the proximity sensor. I'm sure the normal basic alarms are fine!

I have a Toad 850T Cat 1 alarm . It integrates with the factory fit immobiliser and uses the original Renault keyfob . Never once had a problem .

The guy i used fitted on the car park at work , i also used the same guy who fitted one to my 172 . Plus he's Toad authorised , which you need to have the certificate for your Thatcham category to be recognised by your insurance company .

If you want is number he's called Dennis Tel. 07980221525

The last one i had fitted was about £300 3 years ago . He lives in Newport Pagnell but seems to travel about the country fitting alarms so distance is no object . He won't bullshit ya telling you need this , that and the other .

Worth ringing him at least just to see what he says . Mine also had an optinal glass breakage sensor thrown in free .

I've got that on my Clifford and have no problems with it :)

Toad Ai606 is a very highly rated alarm, I'll be getting one fitted to my new car. I've had three Clifford Concept 600s (Gen 4) in the past and all were problematic and not worth the money tbh.

Seeing as you're in Bury give Ian at JLS Security, 07732 818 599 or 0161 796 7365, (not associated with those c***s from X-Factor as far as I know lol) and tell him Sy from BTTOS sent you. He will be able to give you the low down on the Ai606 and let you know what the pin override is all about, I've tried to find out myself in the past using google and had no joy. He also offers a mobile fitting service too and won't take the piss, he's also only down in Sunnybank in case you want to pop down and speak to him face to face though.

PIN override: you get a 4 digit pin no with each system(used for programming new fobs etc) It basically means you can disarm the alarm/immobiliser by turning on and off the ignition to a flashing led.

Also i have the ai606 on my car, good system although it seems to have been programmed to autolock the doors permanently, and i can't turn it off. So i cant shut the door with the engine running without the window open else i get locked out:(

cheers chris (and all), sounds like a decent enough alarm and there's one going cheap on ebay so might look into buying that :)

^^^From what i understand , the Toad AI606 uses a separate remote rather than integrating with the Renault keyfob . Plus if you do buy one from ebay , make sure you get it installed by a Toad approved installer . That way you'll have the Thatcham certificate if you don't, insurance companys won't recognise the Thatcham Category 1 .
