The colour formally known as red is nice. Black seems to be good if youre planning on doing a lot of bling bling mods like chrome wheels though.

tell me about it - and then try cleaning the buggers in the sunlight which is what I had to do today. The smearing is so noticable - before you even reach for your chamois, its dried with horrible marks. They do look great when they are clean though

Agree that black is akward to clean, but black is nice. If I didnt have a black I would red. No regrets in getting a 172 and im sure you wont. I also promised myself I wouldnt mod it.

Tom, I had the same doubts when I first decided to go shopping for a 172, but after drivng one, I was hooked and went up the next weekend to pick it up...havent looked back once...well maybe once cos I want a yellow one, but didnt see any for sale at the time.

ps. about them mods....I suggest you start saving mate...first its the stereo, then its the suspension...some tints, and the next thing you know youre selling your gran because you have to somehow pay for that 300bhp 172 with turbo, NOS, runs exclusively on jet fuel, and puts Ferarri 360s to shame

Black is the best colour my mk2 172 was black and everyone I knew loved it. A truely excellent car, and I really miss mine.
