  A blue one.

Maybe they should give the 182 another run in a year when lots of bits (of fluff) have dropped off, maybe itll sneak a bit closer to that R32!;)

  172, Tiguan

The SR3-LM lapped Top Gears test circuit in the hands of Perry McCarthy in one minute 15 seconds, some eight seconds faster than its nearest rival (a Pagani Zonda)

  220bhp octy VRS

A 182 is quicker than the elise, vanquish and Clio V6?!!!

Also what Nobel is that coming in at 1:33.1?

certainly makes interesting reading...

yeah cus Elise, Vanquish and Clio V6 were all wet track times :)

I like the fact that in the wet my V6 255 had the same time as the Vanquish and just 1 second off the Elise :)

you have to add 2 secs to all the times of the wet ones from what i remember.
more....some were wet, and some were soaking.

A meaningless list as it stands..

Officially 4 seconds was the agreed figure to account for the difference between wet and dry laps. I still recall the week that the Gallardo posted its (wet) time and then doing the maths and working out that it was (at the time) the fastest car they had thrown round the track by a fair margin.

Roll on the lightweight Gallardo to compete with Porsche and Ferraris efforts .. *drool*

a lot more than 2 seconds, the V6 was in Torential rain, very wet indeed, not sure about the Elise and Vanquish because I never saw them. if it had been dry then the V6 would be a lot faster than just 2 seconds quicker.... 4-5 sounds about right :D

The whole list is not worth the paper its printed on, and no one really uses those times as a gauge, unless youre a 182 owner...lol ;)

Will not yet as I have only had the car 1 month and I dont wont to wreck my tyres and brakes just yet....but when they are nearing the end I will go to one.....

Simon.:D

Gives me time to get NOS fitted first ;) ready for the 1/4 mile runs too:D

people keep saying only 182 owners but the thing is if the CTR and others were 2sec or what ever it is seconds faster we would not hear the last of it, im also not saying this is a perfect test cos it int but its also not a total waist of time either, as i said if the 182 had been slower than X, Y or Z car then im sure they (owners) would have all been straight onto this site to tell us how crap the 182 is as soon as the programme had finished

i agree they should seperate the wet and dry times and maybe even redo the wet times on a good day just to see and i also dont believe there would be as much difference between some cars and the 182 as some would believe not on a twisty track anyway.

Yeah its a same they didnt do all dry times or at least separate dry and wet times....would be nice to see how the car compare in wet and dry, I know my V6 is a bit of a handfull in full wet conditions and yet the grip is awesome in the dry

thing is the CTR and 182 are closely matched, a 04 revised Type-R is lighter and has sharper handling. i think 0-62 on this model is 6.6 as standard and the top speed is 147mph .. 8 more than the 182. the 182 does 60 in 6.8 i belive and had a 139mph top speed. Cornering ability is probably that little bit better on the 182, but the civic has a better gearbox and nicer seats.

for the man/woman on a budget the 182 will be a better option as long as its avaliable for the stunning deals people are getting. .clarkson said for £14800 it was the fastest new car you can buy.. he was nearly right.. for 12.5k is more acurate.

The civic is IMO higher up the scale, it is a Hothatch and the clio is a supermini. i sometimes wonder why people keep comparing the two when there is a 4K price difference (taking into account the deals avaliable).

BTW journos always say the Type-R is Daddy of the Hothatch. unfortuantly every feckers got one.. from grannies to chavs where i live. knowbody i know says "ooohh a Type-R" but ive had positive comments and geniune repsect on a weekly basis with the 172.

The Noble first ran there in the wet, and it was the 2.5 litre model which has only 5 gears and no LSD.

The Noble then offered a 3 litre model which has a 6-speed box and a ATB diff.

The power laps are useless now though as the track has changed. The Merc SLR ran a really quick time, but its that bit quicker because of a new track layout.

Also, have you noticed that the celebs are getting much quicker too!

Lastly, Perry Mcarthy is no longer The Stig so you have lap times from 2 different drivers now.

You wait until the Noble M400 goes there next - Itll give that SLR a run for its money!
