Total loss of power to passenger door (window, mirror and central locking)

  Clio 182
Hello, I recently purchased a 55 plate 182. I took it to halfords for a sub install today. They guy didnt have a clue and after an hour of fiddleing trying to get the power through the bulkhead he ended up going round the passenger door frame. I didnt watch the whole time but he was messing around on that door and even took the door speaker out as it wasnt working.

When I got the car home I noticed that Ive lost all power to that door. The window, central locking and mirror have stooped working. The rest of the cars electrics are fine, including the other window and rest of the cars central locking system all work ok.

I dont want to take it back as they will deny it was them and they dont have a clue.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

Many thanks

Paul

Welcome pal,

My guess is that the door loom connector is loose, it's further down from the hinge the door pivots on.

Check that it's actually connected or even loose.

id also agree. its likely that the clip has come loose to the door loom and thats caused a bad connection.

you should be able to see the connection, its like a rubber pipe going from the door to the shell, it should have a clip that slides down on the chassis end to secure it to the car.

Also, runnning a power cable to the sub through the passenger door is a terrible idea. id suggest moving it.

welcome to cliosport btw! :)

Jesus, i'd have stopped him there and then if I'd seen him routing wires around the doors... It's the "I'll have a go" attitude that starts fires!

Hi, I've had a look at the connector in the door and it was loose. Trouble is I cant seem to push it back in properly. Is there a nack to it that I'm missing? It looks like there are some groves cut into the socket that go up in a diagonally on the chassis end and a couple of plasic pins on the side of the plug but I cant get it to slide on. Let me know if you know how to do it. Cheers

The black connector should have a sliding lock, this comes out from the bottom of the connector.

Makes sure that the sliding clip is fully extended then marry it up to the socket, apply a bit of pressure whilst sliding the clip back in.
This will stop it from coming loose and hopefully solve your problem.
