Tow Eye Mount Knackered?!?

Tried screwing in my new tow eye and its just cross threading the tow eye.

Whats best to sort it, tap a new thread?

Size?

No need to tap a new thread, just clean the s**t out of the old thread with a mix of penetrating fluid and an M16x2 bottoming tap. Work for me courtesy of Grey Motorsport.
