Transmission mount

  Clio 172 PH2
Hi guys,

I tried changing the transmission mount, the one under the battery on my clio 172 yesterday to find its no where as near as easy as the other 2! I've undone all 3 bolts and still cant remove it, am i doing something wrong? Looking underneath the car i can't see it either? Any help is much appreciated!

Many thanks

Kyle

Can't lower box as its sat on subframe box mount.easiest way is to remove complete tray assembly then change rubber off the car before refitting

Daft question but do you have a jack under the gearbox as you need to lower it to get it down iirc.
Jack was under the car but then i lowered it to see if it helped, which it didnt. Do i need access to the underneath of the car to do this? Thanks

I've undone all 3 bolts from the top but it doesn't want to budge. Is there anything alse i need to undone to be able to remove it?Thanks

Ignore my first comment. I was thinking of removing it without the subframe.

You need to remove the whole metal bracket that the battery sits on. There are a few bolts from memory.

I don't remove the whole bracket. It's much easier on the car imo.

Undo the big 18mm nut on the top and give the stud a t**t with a hammer. It'll drop through. 2x 10mm bolts nuts and bolts off and the mount comes out.

Thanks bud, how do i access this from underneath the vehicle to put the bolts back in?Thanks

I squeezed my fingers through the gaps and managed to tape the bolt heads in place so they wouldn't drop out when the nuts are un done.

I couldn't see any other way of gaining access to the underside not even through the wheel arch but never really looked into it.

Then had to give the middle gearbox stud a few wacks with a hammer and it came off.

Harder job that I thought it would be.
