Trolley Jack? :D

  1.6 Astra Sporthatch
Can I be really cheeky and ask if anyone has a trolley jack I could use? Near the Tunbridge Wells area?

Want to paint my brakes again and clean out the inside of my wheels and my jack feels a bit weak for my liking!

Thanks

Not that I can help with your request but I bought a jack from Halfords a few years ago, circa 2t lifting capabilities and it was only around the £20 mark.

Think i'm borrowing one off my girlfriends dad, is it okay to use just a cheap jack or do I need axle stands too? Planning to just put the wheels back on to let the brakes dry so they will be off for 30 mins at a time, jack doesn't seem too great quality but it lifted the car okay before.

Thanks

As long as you do not get under the car without axle stands then you should be fine. Do make sure you put whatever wheel is off the car underneath it. So that if the jack does fail then the car won't hit the deck.

Ah can the wheel support the car if worst comes to worst if this is placed underneath?

I would be pretty confident to be under a Clio that has at least 1 wheel under it, beneath the front subframe or under the sump.

You're only painting the callipers so just handbrake on, jack it up, wheel off and right under the car. Lower the car down to pretty much resting on the wheel and you'd be good to go.

Do be careful though.
