Tunnel Shot.

  Edition 30
There is a nice little tunnel I found going under the A1 locally.

Trouble is I want to take a photo in it at night.

There is not lighting in it and not streets lights at either end.

Would I have to provide artificial light myself to get a good shot?

What sort of settings should I be using on my camera etc...

Ive seen people have them taken from high up, like the top of the tunnel, how is this achieved?

Many thanks, any example and explinations welcome!

f16. 15seconds.

If that's all lights and ruined, go less. If it's still too dark, crank the time up a bit.

Use the timer for the shutter release or a remote if you have one.

Well yeah, it just depends how dark it is. If you do things enough, you just 'know' roughly what settings to use, it completely depends on how dark it is.

You don't want to use the on camera flash. That will just ruin it.

Can you adjust the shutter speed on that camera? If not, it probably has a fireworks type mode, use that.

Its basically pitch black.

I should think you can change shutter speed, it has a lot of features.

So long exposure and tripod, trial and error until it starts to work out.

Why would you want to take a photo of a dark place when it's at it darkest !? :rasp:

I'd suggest dusk, lights of the car on, prime lens looking diagonally at the car's corner so the lights don't glare too much ... tripod + remote and see what happens.

Failing that, give up and find somewhere light to take a picture lol !

I will try this.

Just thought taking it in the dark would be better to give more effect. There are no other tunnels around my area!

You can always paint the car in light with a tourch from behind the camera.

So artificail light from a torch if its coming up too dark?

Trouble is with the tunnel, even in the daytime its quite dark.

Might try and find another tunnel!

I'll try another camera aswell, think a friend of mine has one with a remote.

I'll have a go later...

^ I'll agree with that too
Some of the "best shots I have ever got have either been good candid shots or a practiced technique - if that makes sense lol :)
