Ok so TL is just tubeless, 91 is the weight load index, Y is 186mph max. So XL is extra load - Do I really need XL for a 1997 3 series that's hardly used as a passenger car never mind carrying anything?!

Danith ClioSport Club Member GTi 7.5 pp/Mx5 nd2 Mar 11, 2014 #6 Well it's been a lesson. Turns out the tyres the guy put on before were only 87 load index as were 215 40 17 - so might explain the crap ride. So if I get the 225 45 17 with 91 load index I'll be ok and that's actually the recommended LI. Cheers.
