Urgant Help Needed!!!

Hi Guys,
I've got a bit of a problem with the cup! the Backbox has fell off and my car now sounds like a german battle tank!!!

How much am i lookin at to get this fixed? and if anyone can recomend anywhere in warrington that would be great!

Any info on this problem will be greatly appreciated!

Its a regular problem . the back box always falls off . might know someone selling one , pm me if your interested or custom back box is the way to go .

Get a stainless steel backbox! cheaper that a a renault ones that will only fall off again, eventually

how much am i lookin to pay for a new standard one fitted? i've just had a closer look and the pipe leading into the back box has split, then the back box has fell off! will just be the back box i need?

I'd phone the stealers 2mrw and then take it from there .

Mine fell off about a month ago.

Renault wanted £170 for the backbox fitted.

I said I can get a stainless steel one for similar price.

They did it for £160 fitted and supplied and fitted a mount free (£22 on k-tec). Yours might not need the mount.

I only went for the Renault one as it was needing doing asap and I don't like loud, visible exhausts.

And yes, it will just be the back box, the centre pipe is seperate and from how you describe it, sounds fine.

thanks for the help guys, think i'm gonna get the standard one installed again, i know its renault but if i get a stainless one like you said then i can hopefully have it sorted asap which i want!

just feel like a fool now though cos my car is so loud, gonna give arnold clark a ring tomorrow to get a quote.

just booked it in with the stealers! quoted around £200 fitted. Goin in on wednesday, just after a bit more advice if poss, at the moment i've strapped the back box back up, but do you think i should just cut the rubber things holding it on and take it off completley to drive it to the garage?

Well....

The back box is held on by the centre pipe and one rubber mount on the left hand side of the box.

My pipe split and the exhaust swung down to the right so I tied it up hoping it'd last til the weekend.

Wrong! It snapped at the pipe altogether when driving two days later (the day before it was booked in to be done). I had no alternative at the side of the road to get the box off completely as it was still attached to the mount and thus scraping along the road.

Thing is the mount is awkward. I couldn't pull it off so with some tiny scissors from a first-aid kit I have in the car managed to snip though each bit of the X-shaped rubbber.

The mount is need for the new exhaust though, which I had a feeling the back box wouldn't come with the new mount. It didn't.

But like I originally posted, I got a bit of discount (just by asking) and they supplied and fitted the mount free. The mount at Renault is £17.87 +VAT (also see k-tec website for the mount)

If you destroy the rubber you will need a new mount. They should have one in stock. I'd personally leave it be and hope for the best. That said, I did that and it fell off!

By the way the total for the back box, supplied and fitted and with the new mount was £160.98.
