V6 misfire/flatspot

  Clio RS 172 Ph2
Been thinking for a couple of weeks that the Vee's not pulling smoothly through the rev-range and there's a bit of a hesitation at about 3500 rpm, then last night was flooring it hard and it seems to have developed a big miss at those revs.

It was wet last night, and it does seem to have been worse in the wet, but as the vee has coil packs, then surely it's not damp-related?

It had all 6 coils replaced back in the summer (only a few thousand miles ago)... Also while it idle's smoothly, it starts to sound rough at 3000 revs, as if it's not firing on all 6 cylinders. Not sure if it's always sounded like that, or if it's just me getting paranoid now!

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers,

Dave

My cars shutters sometimes too. But usually when the car is cold or when the A/C is on. How do I know if my coils are gone?

Oh it always does it when cold, or the A/C on at low revs - there's a software update to make the A/C thing better, though I asked my local dealer to do it while it was in for service last week, and they said they didn't know how to, and I should try another dealer.... How they can be a franchised Renault dealer without knowing how to perform an ECU software upgrade is beyond me!

at least you can ask for the upgrade, i dont even know if they have it available for thei Hong Kong dealer. There is only one Renault dealer here and they dont know s**t about cars they sell.

Have taken it out today - run up about 300 miles - nice dry day, no hint of a miss or flatspot! Must be damp related - anyone got any ideas where the damp could be getting in so I can treat with a good douse of WD40?
