v6 mk1 - (illiad) blue

  ph1 titanium 172

I am hoping to swap my mk1 172 for ideally a v6 255, but due to finances i might have to go for the mk1... I have seen a couple of flame red mk1 v6s for sale, which look v. nice (one on ebay at the moment, thought it was a mk2 255 to begin with! ) , but I have the original v6 renault mk1 brochure and I notice that you could get the mk1 v6 in illiad blue... but I have never seen one in the flesh... did they actually do this colour for the mk1 v6 ?

Also for those of you who have driven both the v6 mk1 and mk2 did you notice that much difference in overall power delivery ? Would I really be happy with a mk1 or should I hold out ?

I have heard the Mk2 V6 is a much better drive than the Mk1? I am sure this has been discussed before, maybe try doing a search.

Sorry not much help.

Yes Ive seen a mk1 V6 in blue and it looked superb, very very rare though!

Ive also driven both the mk1 & mk2, the mk2 is much better...

Thanks for all the info. Would love to see the mk1 in blue Rich but think I will hold out until the mk2 255 is affordable for me.

In the original leaflet I got when I was on the waiting list, there was also some vile metallic purple colour (cant quite remember the name of it now) for the mk1, but AFAIK no-one ordered in that colour (unsurprisingly!).

Most are in silver as for some reason Renault held off doing any other colours until right towards the end of the production run, and contacted everyone to offer them a silver one, or warn of an extended wait for your chosen colour.

I ordered mine in Illiad Blue, and declined the offer of a silver one, but 3 months later (and with still no delivery date promised for a blue one) I had to cancel my order. When I bought one 2nd hand a couple of months back, I had to make do with a silver one as the blue & red examples are SOOOO rare, and also considerably more expensive due to there being so few about!

Just remembered the name of the purple colour - "Nocturne".

I wonder if any LHD cars were made in this colour - maybe the europeans have different tastes to us in the UK...?

Do you think this is really taken into account when selling on ?

Probably only a few in my colour ?

Dunno about the Mk2, but on the mk1s the silver ones go for £13k, but Ive not seen a blue or red one go for less than £15k!
