what are they like reliability wise, will be doing about 200 miles a week in it, so what is likely to go wrong, and cost me some money on them?

a friend of mine has one, and its constantly broke but he does nail it all the time, and does quick fixes etc, so provided its in good condition anyway, how will it run, any major problems with them?

Erm, make sure you get one with loads of service history.

Wouldn't really worry about how many miles it has done, more about what's been fixed on it.

In all honesty they are hard to work on, some garages won't touch them and stuff tends to break (PAS pumps, gearboxes, heaters, electrics, clutch cables to name a few)

Saying that, you'll always get some mofo who's owned one for 10 years and only had to replace a dust cap or some rubbish.

Deffo not reliable, but mine did eventualy give me 6 months trouble free motoring after 6 months of fixing the fucker.

something will always go rong but the anoying thing is its little bits that goes rong, like my wheel bearing went a couple of weeks ago didnt cost much to fix, just a pain. there is some1 on here called matt brown he deals with valvas and williams buying and selling i brought mine of him so he will be able to tell you what you would exspect to go rong and what to look out for:D

Pepsi - do a search mate, it's been covered loads of times, i've posted in almost every thread where it's been asked too.

If you want reliabilty and an old car, then don't buy an old performance car, especially a French one. If you want an old car and reliabilty by a non performance Jap motor.

As long as its well looked after and you keep it that way it should be ok.
Or as Dave say you can get a Toyota, very reliable but a bit boring in non-sport versions.

i had a valver for around 5 years, only problems i had where 4 gearboxes ( me being rough as f**k probably ) and a snapped cambelt, which is is just one of those really, cant do anything about it, it got thrashed to f**k everyday and took it like a good un, as my williams is now, at the end of the day, any car can become unreliable, depends how its looked after and also depends on the car, you get good uns and you get bad uns
