This gem of a video has popped up Youtube. It’s footage taken from AIM’s new Smartycam onboard 2001 Karting World Champion and Force India F1 test driver Viantonio Luizzi’s KZ2 kart lapping with Michael Schumacher at last weeks karting event organised by Robert Kubica.
Onboard footage of Liuzzi is from the Aim SmartyCam that automatically displays his revs and speed.
I raced in KZ1 class which is the next step up from these karts. they are around 1second a lap faster due to very sticky rubber.
And a little statement from nelson Piquet
Formula 1 drivers are supposed to be the fittest men on the planet but on Nelson Piquet Jnr’s Twitter Page he wrote this about yesterday’s karting event organised by Robert Kubica in KZ2 karts at Lonato -
“I have to admit: The go-kart I drove made me feel more tired than when I drive my F1 car!”
So there you go – Karts are harder than F1!
