Virgin V+

Is anyone here using Virgins V+ PVR?

I moved away from NTLs TV package ages ago as the EPG sucked and response times were terrible. Any recent experiences?

Yeah I've been using it for a year now, back when it was called the TV Drive. Works perfectly well and the epg is no slower than most other pvr's I've used.

me to i love it.. better than sky+ at the minute because v+has 3 tuners which means you can record 2 watch a 3rd:approve:

Massive price difference though, plus V+ gives you access to HD, similar package on Sky would cost about £50 a month whereas Virgin Media give you broadband, V+ and phone for £30 all in.

I do love Sky but in the middle of moving and that's a bargin to me!

Sky is s**t anyway. The olnly difference with Sky is that you get sky one (which all the decent programs (by which I mean 24)) are finished anyway.

Virgin will have its own news sports news program soon and the V+ box is vastly superior to anything sky has.

On Demand TV is awesome as well. So much better than skys "anytime" rubbish

We've had it for about 6 months now..

I think it is awesome.. The recording 2 and watching 1 is brilliant for mother and her soaps etc...

Also access to HD channels on the same box - which you don't have to pay for! Sky charge £300 iirc for a HD box?

Overall its a really good bit of kit!

I've had one a couple of months now, they are really good, especially for Virgin Media lol

Slight delay on all channels when you change, as the HDD kicks in ready to rewind live tv on every channel. But the EPG is really good, and in the guide shows 7-8 days ahead :)

I don't know how people can compare VM HD with Sky HD lol, we get 1 preview channel, they get like 12 or something, with Sky Sports and Sky Movies HD. So in that respect Sky is really good.

As the box is free though (maybe an install charge now ?), and you just rent it it's good value, been really pleased with it :)

used to be free and cost £10 a month, now there is a 1 off charge and nothing else to pay whereas sky charge £10 for their HD content on an inferior box.

Yes they have more content at them moent, but there arent too many people with HD TV's at the moment. That will all change pretty soon though.

Sky also charge you for the box on top!

Can anyone confirm how many HD channels you get with V+ ?

we changed from the package we had on NTL to a vip package and we didn't get charged for the v+ HD box

i can confirm you get ONE HD channel and its only a preview channel? so i guess you really get none?? however i think the hd box is great.the only thing is. its not very responsive. it annoys the hell outa me but hey

its worst than the old service if your flicking between channels because the hard drive is buffering the channel and there is a slight delay.
if your using the epg then that is fine, there is a bit of HD content on demand but nothing to interesting..
