Void Waranty Modding Car

Is this true, if i was to add things to my car, eg. alloys, tints, would my 3 years warranty be void?

Depends on the dealer. if they wanna be arsey - then yes.

However on the whole they are reasonable. But I wouldnt expect to get away with lowering it then getting shocks on warranty, or fitting 17s then getting them to shell out on a wheel bearing (I did but it was pure luck!).

Declare all mods to insurance.

alright wicked.

i might give them a ring, and just read about someone not declaring mods. Dont have free renault insurance like, but might still tell my insurance company when i get alloys etc.

The law is that they have to prove the mod is responsible for the failure etc to invalidate the warently on parts.

The warently is old invalid on the parts or associated components ie failed failed or faulty electrics cannot be blaimed on lowed suspension etc.

Did springs after a couple of months from new, Magnex after a couple more. Never had a single warranty issue, in fact the staff at the dealer were interested to see what Id be doing next! Had Group N ECU & silicone inlet hose kit fitted today - doubt theyll have a problem with that either.

i emaild reno b4 i bought and fitted the k&N and asked them to send me an email bout whether or not it was ok and they sed it was ok...so i printed it off and if they try to say NETHING then ive got it in writing! whoo haaa!

that was 1 month afta owning the car!

also, ive fitted spax sus kit. tried emailing them a few times, but they aint replied... shud b ok tho..

Im suprised you got a straight answer from them.

But they hav to legally aggre to warentyl work unless the mods can be linked to the failure ie if it weret modified it would be ok.
