Washer problem?! however pump works fine... :/

Hi all, new to sign up to the forum however have spent a lot of time looking around it while bored at work!
I come to you for help with a problem, bought my clio 6 months ago everything worked fine (suprisingly as i bought it dirt cheap) except the washers, never really bothered me as I clean my car every few days but now MOT time is coming up...

Pump works fine have tested it, however the cable running to the pump do not switch, both terminals stay negative when the washers are worked, could this be a problem with the switch on the stalk or could it be a fuse? and if so where is it? :/

Anyone had this problem or am I the exception? Any help appreciated,

Fuses are located on the passenger side of the dash (removable panel), hopefully it's just the fuse.

Yea have already checked them, are none of the fuses under the bonnet for the washers? Looks like its gonna be something more complicated grr

I took the pump itself off and tested it with a power probe and it started whurring, then tested the plug that goes into the pump while a mate worked the washers and both terminals came back negative :/

Ah yes,mine did this,made all the right noises etc but would not pump water.

New pump sorted it,had me foxed for a while,thought I had a blockage.

Put your pump in a cup of water with it connected an operate it, this will show if the pumps fu@ked or not

I've already had new pump, still not working lol there is no power coming down the wire from the stalk... It took an external wire direct from the battery to get the pump working (both the old one which I thought was broken & the new one I ordered)

First port of call check the fuses, if that fine then you want to start checking the wiring up to the stalk to make sure you got a feed

Yep, will give that a go is it easy to get to the wiring behind the stalk? And if it was the stalk that is the problem are they hard to change?

no not bad to get to just remove the trim around the steering wheel.
