Weight saving...

  Mk4 .:R32
How much weight would I save with no spare wheel/tool kit, no back seats and buckets instead of std front seats??

If anyone has weighed all of those things that is!

That's not too bad. I'd assume there isn't a great deal of difference in the front seats and buckets!!

Front seats are pretty heavy because of the air bags and electrics. So buckets will be lighter. Not sure on the weight saving though.

a decent bucket will be half the weight, if not less than the original front seats.

i removed mine recently, and needed two hands and a fairly strong grip to move them, i can lift the Cobra Evolution replacment with one hand!

you may have Arnie-esque arms  lol

sounds good though. Trying to save around my body weight which is 80kg's, which won't happen without removing the air con, which I don't want to do!

yea but then you have a steel subframe and the side alloy/steel mounts

true.

my description was with alloy side mounts attached, but not the steel base frame.

but then, they are still not that heavy.

My mate just got some kirby bucket seats for his 172, all aluminium, minimum material and padding, stupidly light and so comfy!

aftermarket front seats obviously have different weights..

so there is no fixed amount of weight you will be saving...

if you are prepared to fork out the money... you will be able to get the carbon shell etc.. super ultra lightweight seats..

its up to you....

scraping the spare wheel and tool kit is a good weight saver tho.. :)

here is an idea:D

what the bit under where the rear seats were on the right hand side in this pic the black circle that looks a bit like a speaker always wondered what this was for ?

LOL, bearing in mind it will still be a day-to-day car. I don't wanna 100% track prep it, like having a single seat made out of baked bean cans, and no carpet or door cards!

no, I'm replacing the back seats with a small mattress to make intimate times more comfortable ;)
