no in the 197 you need to put it in 1st gear and have your foot off the clutch, then you press the start button with the trip button.

Well i'm on my 2nd clio and i know of the diagnostic test you can do when you put the key into the ignition and hold the button on the end of the wiper stalk that puts all the dash lights on and moves all the needles move, it moves the rev couter round to the redline and puts the speedo onto 160.
