What are Glazes for?

I find a glaze is a product that can actually add something to the true paint finish.

Imo the lsp compliments good paint but a glaze can add something. It's not something I use all the time but they always add a wetness to the finish imo.

Clearkote do a very good range and also Chem guys.

People reccomend PB blackhole but I wouldn't use it as a glaze on corrected paint work maybe on an enhancement as it has a LOT of fillers and can make a bad car look good easily.

Most glazes will contain fillers. The idea being it brings more depth to the paint by filling any minor, minor defects. I've recently been using Red Moose Glaze on the Panzer, purely because I can wash/dry entire car then clay, glaze, seal a panel at a time. Since time is very short at the moment. You can really see a big difference in the bonnet, roof and wings thus far...

Im all for fillers, as i only polish properly once a year.

Do they provide suitable bases for sealants and waxes? Can you use a pre wax cleaner over them ?

No they are after your pre-wax cleaner as most like JD said contain fillers so they will be removed by the cleaner.

Although to be fair a lot of Glazes contain cleaners aswell.

The only one I have found recently that doesn't contain fillers and only minimal cleaners is the Danase' stuff from America. Sounds like a pure glaze rather than a filler/cleaner.

I'd rather a glaze was just a glaze but most contain fillers/cleaners.

So really i should leave glazing out, nevr understood what they were for. ill stick with Pre wax cleaner and wax then.

Basically it a non cutting compount. Brings gloss to the paint. I love the Clearcote Moose Glaze and Megs Blackhole. Both super products.!

Agreed in the Moose. Used the Red on the Panzer. Nice looks for someone lacking in time, currently!

What im asking is, can stuff sit on top of a glaze. Properly. Wax or sealants? I might try some blackhole or some other hardcore filler s**t.

Megs blackhole?

The red mouse really does work best on red cars funnily enough, a lot of products claim to be colour dependent but aren't.

The weather doesn't help JD.

Just to add i'm a massive glaze fan, it always adds something to the overall finish. All imo of course.

Wax will sit fine aslong as it's not a fussy wax, don't forget the best and worst waxes can sometimes to be fussy about bonding to anything bar an ipa wipedown.

I've never had any problems though. 90% of waxes/sealents will work fine with glazes.

They'll be fine stop worrying.

VXR mark recently glazed and waxed his FRS. He's using Celeste as the wax so it's clearly fine.

Poorboys blackhole is an awesome product but i'd rather do an enhancement using Lime Prime then top with a less filer heavy glaze, then wax.

I used Glasur on a mk1 FRS recently and it went over the glaze fine no reaction or durability issues.

As above, Poorboys Blackhole. Toby, give it a try. It does exactly what it says on the tin i.e. fills swirls and minor defects and really adds warmth to the paint.

Have a search in this section for "ferrari" and it will bring up Jim's recent detail of an F50... or 40. 50 I think! He compounded, refined then glazed.

Also search DW for Blackhole.

A guy did a gtr with it for an enhancement. WOW. Infact....

The best product I have purchased. Used in the same way as BH but maybe with a little more time involved.

Kinda inbetween a polish and a Glaze, it's called a pre-wax cleanser but it has micro abrahsives so gives a little correction if using the right pad. 3m yellow in my case.

Apologies buddy, comes across as arsey rather than in awe. Was meant as a "glad you posted it" post :)

My fault mate I wasn't being condescending just so people don't think it's a miracle polish or anything.
:)
