What Chip

I got a few questions i need answering before investing in a chip and de-cat.

1)Where is the best place to go to have my 16v chipped. I have narrowed it down to Hill Power & BBTuning

Everyone says Hill Power is brilliant but i have also heard good things about BBTuning. They are both round about the same price as well.

If BBTunings chip is as good a Hill Power then i would prefer to go there as it is only about 30mins away from me where as Hill Power is 2hrs.

2) where can i get a de-cat pipe from? And what sort of price do i pay? At the moment i have got a Magnex full system which has a Cat! If i de-cat it will it fail the MOT.

Also if i get the chip now and the De-cat after my MOT in a few months will it need re-setting up after de-cat or does it not make a difference?

Am looking into chips also, dont really want to go up to HP but I thought theirs was 150 where as BB was 250 quid ? Might be worth it for 100 quid ?

Just looked on BBTunings site and it is £250!!! Im sure last time i looked it was cheaper than that. Thought it was about £179 +vat.

Dont quote me on that, I havent phoned BB, just looked on their website but I am almost 100% sure that the HP one is only 150 quid and is supposed to be the dogs, not sure about the de-cat business, Im pretty certain you will fail the MOT but not sure about setting up the chip, I need to know that also as Ive got a de-cat pipe but havent put it on yet for that reason !?!? Want to know if the car will need tuning after the de-cat is put on also ?

Go for the hill power chip! when i was looking at getting a chip i looked at both BB and HP and well whrn BB put theres up to £250 ish i went for Hp which was 150 inc vat for members and its great have no probs watsoever runs much smoother and responsive than b4, i was well impressed

as for a de-cat i got a silanced one from K-tec again no pros there is fine needed a little fettleing to get on but is fine now and only tock 10 mins to put on so can change it no probs for the MOT.

De cat is fine on its own. Got a magnex one fitted which actually looks like a cat so will fool them at MOT unless emmisions are too high. Hoping ecotek will help with that.

Chip I got from BB and you are right they are 250, as are KTEC now. HP seems cheapest. But then I got cambelt done at BB which was a lot cheaper so swings and roundabouts!

Whats the deal with buying a chip from Hill Power?

How do yuo fit it? Do you need any special tools etc.......?

Send Nick your ECU and hell fit it..! I wouldnt attempt it unless your a dab hand with a soldering iron..!

Some point this yr i maybe getting a willy lump put in. would the Hill Power chip that i will be getting in next few weeks work with this. Will it just need re-mapping or do i need a different chip for the willy lump?

Car should be fine with decat and then chip afterwards. Chip will be set up for your 1.8 I believe so 2litre will require ECU and new chip to match the 2litre to any mods.

got my self a de cat pipe from bb fitted for about £65 took them about half a hour to do no problems i would advise going there.
