What do you use to tighten the bolts on the hub caps?

As titled really, bought some dynamique alloys without the key for the little bolt, have used some long nosed pliers to tighten them a bit, but just wondering if there was anything else that you might of used to get them tighter? Trying not to have to spend £20+ on a new key
