What is the small grey plug behind the interior light housing for?

Handsfree telephone microphone, if you remove the panel above the ash tray there is usally a loose connector for the handsfree speaker too

Oh and under the glovebox you should find an unused 8 pin connector to plug the handsfree unit in, shame they only did one for the nokia 3210 or something ancient like that. I suppose you could cut the connector off for the phone and providing you knew the pinouts for the phone you intended to plug in and you had a spare plug for it, you could easily rig something up to charge it and send/receive the speaker/mic signals.

Thx for the answers all, I shall have to have a look at it & see if I can figure out how to get it all working with my HTC.

Youd still have to order a mic/speaker from renault, that is if you want to use the standard connections

Don't bother, use a Parrot BT device, or similar, connected to the stereo wiring loom - much easier and likely cheaper in the end.
