I have normal sized hands. How do I change the headlight bulb? And does anyone know what bulb it is I need? Can't believe i've actually just asked for help on changing a bulb...

Thanks, Ant.

That's the bulb and starter for your xenon.

Not sure if you can get them in Halfords TBH.

I've got a second hand one if you need it. £15 posted.

Is there a certain way to remove this? As all I can seem to do is get this 'box' looking thing off :/ but no bulb is attached and my hand now has considerable dents in it from squeezing through all the pipes.

Lol. Can't help you with the type of bulb but you need the hands of a hobbit to change them.

Once the box is off there is a plastic circle type thing you need to remove to free the bulb... Its far easier with the headligh unit out tbh.. Only a 30min job removing the bumper, fitting new bulb and refitting the bumper...

Ah, thanks for the replies. Seems a pain in the arse having to take the bumper off just for a lightbulb! Oh well.

IIRC you can do it by going through the arch too. I'd just take the bumper off though mate, there's a good guide in the guides section.

Yeah i've had a look behind the arch lining and can't see much of a way through so i'm currently reading how to remove the bumper. Never had so much trouble changing a bulb before! Thanks for your help Luke.

I tried withour removing the bumper and failed. Unless you have the hands of a 10 year old removing the bumper is by far the easiest and quickest way.

Ok thanks, I have limited tools to use so any job is more than straight forward for me ha. Will look into it but no point doing anything until the bulbs arrive.

I have fairly big hands and manage to change the bulb in about 10 mins. Its paitence you need not small hands(unless they are like shovels)

Its a ball ache but with patience and swearing it can be done. You can get a pair of Philips D2S bulbs for circa £25 on ebay. Halfords is £89.99 per bulb.

chances are its the ballast/ignitor that has went - rare for xenons to blow. Mind and take out fuse before removing ignitor and let it discharge - or risk getting a shock - theres a reason y theres a hazard sign on it, piece of cake with bumper off/ lamp out.

The Igniter (black box in the photo) twists to the left then pulls off, then the bulb is held in place by two spring type clips.

You push down each clip and move it away from the bulb. Looking from the back of the unit, the left clip pushes down and slides to the left then pulls back, the right clip pushes down slides to the right then also pulls back and out, then the bulb sits there until you pull it out.

Just realised this thread is a few days old now, might as well post anyway it might help anyone in future.

FFS! Managed to get the bumper off fine and changed the bulbs over but even with a new bulb my headlight still didn't come on.

Now what is the problem? This is starting to do my head in!

move it to your other headlight and see if it works. If you cant be assed just buy a new one they are about £30

there is a thread on this too if you feel like a search
