what mods on a budget?

  182
Hi guys i'm looking into modifying my 172 cup:

Matched inlets £176
182 manifold £250
Decat £100
Remap £250ish

Just wondering what benfits each will give me and looking for opinions from those with the work done

Bottom line, is it worth it?

don't bother touching the engine, a car with 190bhp-200bhp vs a standard car with a decent brake/suspension setup will get owned

that and learn how to drive

i'm well aware that £1000 spent on driving tuition makes you faster than the same spent on modifications.....

but i've already done that, and used to race rotax karts :) and can't recommend it enough!

please don't take me as arrogant and claiming to be a driving god - far from it, i know my limits - just that i understand your point and know where you are coming from.

however i do wish my clio was quicker in a straight line to maintain my interest, without having to resort to expensive engine surgery!

IMO loose the weight is better

Gains depends how good the other bits a good intake manaifold won't gaisn much whereas a poor one will.

ive got 182 manifold, decat, k-tec stealth, itg pannel filter and it pulls like a train compaired to how it was standard.

removed the inlet manifold today ready to send off to be matched and getting an RSTuner from fastchip to map it

the inlet matching i've been looking at is from gdi - £176 inc vat iirc

how can i lose weight from a cup then? i'm not interested in losing the back seats/any more sound deadening etc

Depends how extreme you go, markcup has stripped his bare, if it gets any leighter he will have to teather it down in high winds.

They're the engine mods i'd look to do if i had a 1*2. If i had the 182 then the manifold wouldnt be a mod but...

loose the spare wheel, tool kit, all the carpet in the boot, the plastic on the inside of the boot, rear speakers, sound deadning behind rear door cards would be a start while still looking standard!

  Weeman sucks ****
1.suspension
2.brakes
3.seats
4.engine (if at all)

in that order. put the money into good suspension and as fred says you'll get more from the car.

  RS RIP
^^ i remember Chris's thread when he removed the seats + put in buckets, riding H&Rs .. very happy with it, as i am btw. Changes the car totally, these mods
