WHAT SUB

  Cupra K1 & Clio 200

ok guys, im gettin my ICE dis Thursday like it or lump it! But the geezer hasnt got any Alpine Type R in stock because they are discontinued. That was my first choice but i need a back up now. So what should i get? And any suggestions on Amps? Thanks!

Hon

PS ive got about £300 to spend on amp and sub

Alpine type S are about £80 for the 10 inch 800w £140 for the 12 inch 800w and i belive they do same but in a 1000w model

no JL is not the best if youve got the cash kicker L7 (12) the best under £300 sub wonga can buy at 750 watts RMS per sub power is the game have a look at www.kicker.com

Listen to a couple mate. When I got mine, the shops were more than happy to let me have a listen. I already had the amp and stuff in so was just waiting for the sub.

I tried several including Cerwin Vega, Pioneer, RF, and I settled on my JL. They are great speakers but it depends what you want.

If youve got the power to drive a Kicker and youre interested in a headache, give that a try. If you like listening to music but still want the kick of a decent, well made, musical sub, you can;t do much better than JL.

Before anyone goes off on one - thats my opinion of course, each to their own

Ive just got a JL Audio W0 (£120 plus box). Ive listened to that as well as the Type R and Id say that the JL Audio just edges it, plus its cheaper than the Alpine.

Steveo - I agree that the Kicker is a serious sub but at £300 is about twice the price of what he was originally looking at, plus you need a big amp to provide enough juice to make it worth while.

Best bet is to listen to a few diffenet models, but if that isnt an option Id definately say go with the JL Audio.

Alright boys, you can stop arguing now, my Alpine Type-R is in, and to be honest sounds good.

Im re-doing my whole boot with the false floor, perspex windows and neons. I should have it done before the meet, so any of you attending should see my own designed boot install.

Thanks for the advice,

Hon

well at least you did end up going for a very good sub in the end i like alpine alot and most of my system is made up it but never the less it would be nice to know what your runnin it off

ALRIGHT GENGAR,
NICK READ,ANDYRAP AND RT-OWNER HAVE GOT IT RIGHT "JL" ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUST LOOK AT HOW MANY SOUND OFFS THEYVE WON. IVE GOT A 12W4 BEING RUN FROM A 2 CHANNEL ROCK-FOSGATE RF(BRIGDED) AND IT KICKS ALL DAY EVERYDAY.THIS AMP ALSO FITS UNDER THE SEAT BETWEEN THE RIBS.

I agree Grant and thats very similar to my set up. Ive got a 4 channel Rockford amp under my seat (punch 400a4), 2 channels of which are bridged to my JL 12W3 and it sounds the absolute nuts.
