What Subwoofers have you got or recommend?

sony's probably got a bad rep on here, not many like them. i got sony HU, sub amp and tweeters and im very happy with what they do. did have sony components but they was shite, swapped them for infinities which are 10x better

Held in place by getting a very tight fit between panels or you can use a couple of screws in to wheel arch, screws are hidden under the AMP.

from my experience Vibe are just real loud and handle real low bass note but sound quality is poo just all merges into one big bass note. I've gone throught quite a few but the ones I have at the moe and rather impressed with are Alpine. I got 2 12" Type R 1000W jobbies running off a MRD-500 900w mono-block. Does the job with good clear sound quality too. Crap pic but you get the idea......

i know what subs i want either vibe black air 15" or alpine the alpine 12" type R's but the problem i have is do i choose a ported or closed box? ive asked before, and have been to many car audio places but they only ever have sealed subs to listen to. i have only ever heard one ported sub before and the bass was massive managing to near enough shake the poor Nova it was in to pieces. At the moment i have the standard front 13cm speakers, with the GZ Radioactrive GZRF 52's 13cm speaker in the back, and i am happy with their sound and bass (even though im going to change the front ones in a few weeks) but i want some really meaty bass that will go super low, shake and go loud without distorting or sounding crap, plus im 17 and dont have thousands to throw away so i was looking at about 5 - 600 for the whole setup.

i'd get a sealed box as ported boxs don't like playing below their tuning frequency.

also sound alot tighter than ported.

Ive got 2 12" rockford 'punch's. Dunno what model but were arround the £150 each two years ago. Thay shond alright, but if i were buying now, i would get either alpine type r or from a company called rainbow. Have heard good things about them

ive got a new alpine 12" type r ( 500watts rms,1500peak) running on an alpine v12 340rms( i reckon its probley abit more ) sounds sweet vey tuneful bass

and my old 10" type r now fucked

I gots a jbl gto series 12" sum and my changer in the boot aswel as 2amps mounted on back of seats.

Size depends on what you want from it, 12 is good enough for me. Heard the vibe stuff is pretty decent.

I take it you are after the perpex box, or a box with a perpex window.

As long as the seal is air tight should be OK.

You could try demontweeks, ripspeed/halfords or maxpower.

out of the 3 id say Alpine, but id look at others in that price range, dont limit your choices to the well known jap brands, they might make good TV's/Food blenders but that doesnt make them good with ICE

I've got a Precision Power 10" sub - sounds OK to me, not used it since I bought the Clio over 18 months ago though. No idea if they're good quality or cheap nonsense TBH.

I had one of those in my golf. prefer the alipines I have now to be honest. prob cos the DLS kept breaking!!! now the DLS 10x7's I have on the parcel shelf....totaly diff story! best sound quality I have ever heard!! and I've had them for 4 years and they are stil going strong!!
