Whats best for backing up the pc ??

Owing to the fact that my little bro (he's 20) mullered the pc last week by getting a lovely virus via msn (even though we run anti everything software & variuos firewalls etc  )

Basically we lost all of the data on the pc as it was corrupted (so we think) so now I want to back up what we have on here (back up the hard drive) so if it goes tits up again we can re load our documents etc.

Whats best in terms of an external hard drive etc ??
Do they run from a usb port ??

Where can i get one & how much would we be looking at paying ???
thanks.

Craig.

You can get firewire or USB 2.0 externals. Firewire is probably better imo, more stable.

But i've got a 320gb USB 2.0 Toshiba, it was about £115 from www.scan.co.uk

Haven't had a problem with it yet. I'm getting backup crazy though, tempted to get another external!

USB2 external all the way. Never had any trouble, no drivers to install just plug in and away you go. Cheap as chips for masses of storage and quick too. Probably the best £100 I ever spent on accessories.
