When to change tyres

  Peddled device
I have the original PE2's on my 182 Cup and they are on 29.5k. They all have between 3mm and 4 mm. When should l look to change them?

(I have had a very good quote from NWPerformance for a full set but thought they were lower than the actually are....gauged them this morning l did!)

  172 ph-quick
personally i never really let my own tyres go lower than about 3mm, theres a massive drop in performance from 4mm down to 2mm surprisingly. cant remember how much exactly as it was years ago when i was fitting tyres, but some thing along the lines of 30-40%.
If you go for a pair, new ones onto the rear, and worn on the front.
I was only going to change a pair a when i done mine but got a good deal on pe2's so went for the whole set.

  Nothing at the mo :(
im sorta in the same boat.. all my michelins are on 3mm... but i got a trackday to go to in a month so im not gonna change mine yet otherwise il just ruin a set in a day..

3mm is recommended but i'm pikey and tend to try and get another millimetre out of mine

if it's a good deal, may as well stick them on now (keep the good ones that come off, incase you pick up puncture/s). 30k's really good (esp. from the fronts) - presumably you won't be needing to do them again for years anyway
