Where to buy a high spec pc??

  1 Series Coupe
I want to buy a high spec machine for gaming etc. I have considered building one myself, but i can't be doing with anything going wrong with different parts then sending each different part back. My budget is £1000.

Does it work out cheaper to build a machine yourself?

Does anyone reccommend anywhere to buy a pre-built machine?
I have looked on www.meshcomputers.com and they seem to be very good machines for quite a good price. Anyone had any dealings with them?

Would be grateful for any help.

Cheers

Matt

Yes it cheaper to build one yourself on anything other than absolute poverty spec. But I wouldn't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing. Components have to be compatible, yes sometimes components do go wrong and yes you will have to diagnose it yourself otherwise the shop will charge you for returning a non-faulty product. Plus then you have to try guessing again!

If you buya complete system and something goes wrong, take the whole thing to the shop, tell them it's broken and it's their problem to sort it.

It's all down to how involved you want to be in the maintenance and how comfortable you feel doing it yourself or not.

build your own - look at a few companies who advertise "high end uber gaming pcs" etc and buy all the parts they list its made of and bung it together yourself..

That's actually a pretty good idea. Certainly rules out compatabiity issues.

Uncle had a mesh system since then I have rebuilt it and upgraded it for him he wouldn't have another one.

Very good PC can be had for £1000. Can probably get a quad core setup and an 8800gtx system with that kind of budget.

Not been into computer hardware for a long time, but when I used to build my own I've always use Toms Hardware Guide and look through all the reviews and tests he does. Basically it tests every single type of graphics card, processor, memory and motherboard against each other then puts them into graphs. You can then go through and select the one that gives you the best performance without spending more than necessary.
